No professional league in the history of sports has ever made as many drastic changes in 1 offseason as MLB this year . And I love it .

Folks, the average length of a MLB game this year will be cut by a minimum of 35 mins . And that’s on the low side .

pitch clock , eliminating shifts , and bigger bases are all huge game changers that will fundamentally change the way baseball is played .

The stolen base will be back .

Pitchers only allowed to throw to first twice .
On the 3rd attempt they either have to get him out or the runner is automatically awarded the next base .

This will allow the runners to time the pitches without fear of the pitcher throwing over to 1st base.

This will allow them to get huge leads and steal bigger bases .

The 100 stolen base in a year guy will be back .

The elimination of the shift will add probably an average of. 30!points to the league batting averages . And even more then that for left handers

Im watching some of these spring training games and they are flying .

Runs will he way up . The time of the game will be way down .

Should be fun.

Make no mistake the game of baseball has been fundamentally changed in a very drastic way .

No sport has ever made changes this significant before in one offseason .

getting rid of that idiotic extra inning rule with putting a baserunner on 2nd to start a inning would've been the best thing they could've done..

I could care less about speeding up the game

Eliminating intelligence from the game to give a shitty hitter a better chance
Why not just get rid of all pitches except the fastball?
Maybe elminate the inside pitch lol

I’d rather players decide it on the field then pencil neck geeks decide it in an office

3rd baseman should play 3rd base not right field or 1st base .

Does that mean a CB can't blitz after a QB? I mean he should stick to covering
Doies that mean you can't put a RB out wide? Only hand offs for you

This falls into the too little too late category for the overwhelming majority of non-gamblers. There's a pretty good argument that MLB is now the fourth most popular major sport in terms of generating enthusiasm. At the very least, the NFL, NBA and to a lesser degree, NHL could all name the city they want to expand to and be welcomed with open arms. There are a few MLB teams that can't find a viable home.
Speaking from Las Vegas, we are waiting for the NBA and no one cares about the A's moving here other than those who will be enriched by it.

It's terrible.

Looks like MLB The Show on fast speed.

Pitchers can barely set for their pitches and those magic intense moments during the playoffs when the crowd slowly gets louder as the pitcher shakes off the signs trying to make the perfect pivotal pitch will now be gone.

They killed the natural rhythm of baseball.

Why? Because millennials and Gen Z viewers have ADHD?

What the hell is wrong with this world! ?

NFL and NBA but definitely NOT NHL. MLB is way more popular and ensconced in American society and culture than NHL. I would even say MLS has probably surpassed NHL in terms of popularity. Truth be told, NHL TV ratings aren't much better than WNBA TV ratings which is a league that pretty much operates in the summer when most people have a million things to do other than sit home and watch sports.

I tend to agree, however, with most of the sentiment on here that all these changes MLB is making is gradually ruining the sport. I remember when interleague play was considered extremely radical. Going from 3+ hour games to 2 hour and 50 minute games isn't going to bring in young people. I work with young people and most have the attention span of a squirrel.
